The Railway Operating Detachment scheme referred to above

was utilized in connection with night operations by the Regular

Army in Fobruary 1936, when we were requested to entrain certain

units for Taipo Market at Kowloon Station on February 28th,

The train which left Kowloon at 00.10 hours consisted of

420 Officers and men, 57 mules, equipment and baggage, and amounting

to 52 axles in all.

The dotraining was completed at Taipo Market Station at

1.50 hours. The troops were again entrained at 11.50 hours the sume

morning at Fanling Station. The train loft Fanling at 12.0 hours 1

on a fast train timing and arrived at kowloon at 12.35 hours.

It was agreed that the exercise provided valuable
